Echolot 2.0.9 released
======================

I have just finished work on Echolot 2.0.9.

This is a minor feature release. No real bugs have been closed by that
release so if you are already running 2.0.8 there is no need for you to
upgrade.

This version finally adds some sort of useful logging compared to the
chaotic debug output which you had to live with up until now.

Furthermore pingd was modified to remove stale pid files on startup and
unparseable mails get trashed right away rather than keeping them
in mailerrordir forever.

Echolot 2.0.9 can be downloaded from:

About Echolot
=============

Echolot <http://www.palfrader.org/echolot/> is a pinger for anonymous
remailers.

A Pinger in the context of anonymous remailers is a program that
regularly sends messages through remailers to determine their status.
Based on the responses, the Pinger calculates reliability statistics
which may be used by remailer clients to choose a chain of remailers to
use.

Furthermore, Echolot collects configuration parameters and keys of
remailers and offers the collected information in a format readable by
remailer clients. This helps reduce the administration effort required
to use or host remailers.
