cside uses exim3 and Debian (Woody) - I have the following in my exim config 
in the directors section (you probably already have a "localuser" director 
defined):

# This director matches local user mailboxes.

localuser:
   driver = localuser
   transport = local_delivery
   suffix = +*
   suffix_optional
