echolot user and group
mixmaster is installed under mix user and group

on stderr when I run it manually with ./pingd --verbose start

I fixed the problem by installing mix also under echolot user. It's
probably not as relevent anymore, but I'm interested as to why it wasn't
working (from what I understood echolot just needs access to execute
mixmaster). So I can reproduce the problem I used a backup to do the
listing and test.

echolot at hermes ~ $ export MIXPATH=/tmp/oldmix
echolot at hermes ~ $ /var/lib/mix/mixmaster -m -S -l mix at daat.aarg.net
Please move the mouse, enter random characters, etc.
Thanks.
Mixmaster 3.0rc1
Run `/var/lib/mix/mixmaster -h' to view a summary of the command line options.
Enter the message, complete with headers.
When done, press ^D.
It gets me in the message editor of mixmaster
Now the oldmix dir content looks like:
oldmix:
mix.cfg mixrand.bin pool pubring.mix type2.list
Thanks again for your time
