Can you be more specific about "could not detect it" ? We are using
'/usr/bin/python' as the path to the python interpreter, which is in
debian (and perhaps in ubuntu too) the "default" python version. And I
don't think we're using 2.3-specific modules or features, or anything
that is now deprecated in 2.4.

The error message would be most helpful.
